Location

And while this home was not originally designed for this plot of land, one of Wright’s original apprentices, David Elgin Dodge, selected its location on the site, honoring its integration with the landscape.

Before the rest of us were really even thinking about being green, this house was built completely off-the-grid on 66 secluded acres. With his electrical engineering skills Bob designed a solar system with generator backup. The windows are all double-glazed. The house had compact fluorescents in every receptacle before most people even new what they were. The house has radiant heat, and has been built with the most modern materials for efficiency.

We continually strive to improve on what was truly a good beginning and have outlined for this property and our Wilderness House property in Moab, UT our “Green Initiatives.” This is what we have done, and plan to do to preserve this environment whose beauty we have been so fortunate to enjoy.

“Beautiful buildings are more than scientific. They are true organisms, spiritually conceived; works of art, using the best technology by inspiration rather than the idiosyncrasies of mere taste or any averaging by the committee mind.” Frank Lloyd Wright
